Updates to the Submission Submitter Tool

January 7th, 2008

The biggest change we are working on currently, is the submission submitter tool, which allows you to determine whether an article is already submitted.

The new version will allow you to add your own RSS feeds and categorize them. We will still offer a list of feeds that have historically done well on Digg’s front page.

Once we have perfected the tool for Digg, we will do the same for Reddit, StumbleUpon and Propeller.

The Biggest Thing Digg Can Learn from Mixx

December 19th, 2007

In one word (with punctuation): SPEED!! The same lesson can be learned through Reddit.com. When I vote for content on these sites, the response is virtually instantaneously. Same thing is true when I navigate from page to page and add people as friends.

December 2nd, 2007

This article is not for those who casually use social networks casually. I composed this guide for those who use social networks for idea generation, promotion and networking. At the end of the article is a link to a template you can use to implement your social networking strategy.

An Easier and Faster Digging Experience With Opera

October 10th, 2007

The method I am currently using to ease the experience of digging my friends consists of right clicking on the title (from this page -> http://www.digg.com/users/[yourusername]/friends/submissions) of each story (or holding down cntrl and left clicking) and opening each story in new tabs. The problem is that seven or so tabs being opened in Firefox tends to cause an annoying freeze of the browser.

Digging Friends and Digg Democracy

September 24th, 2007

The two issues that I have with Digg.com at the moment are the new difficulties with digging your friends and the Digg.com team implementing features that the community is not concerned about at the moment (although I am personally enjoying the new social networking features). In particular, I am referring to the comment system and picture system, which seem to be at the bottom of the to do list, yet requested every day by some irate Digg.com user.

Notifir.com Updates and Road Map

September 22nd, 2007

I have received great feedback lately for Notifir.com. Thanks! I was away for a few days at the TechCrunch40 with Notifir.com funder ThemBid.com, so development progress on Notifir.com has stalled temporarily. Here is a quick update on the current road map for Notifir.com. Thanks for your support and patience.

Submission Suggester Is Live

September 10th, 2007

Based upon community feedback, the story suggester feature has been implemented (version 1). We take the latest five stories from your favorite RSS feeds and tell you whether that story has been submitted. If it has, you can click the digg it link, if not you can click the submit it link. Over the next few days I will be adding an index so that you can quickly jump to the feed source you prefer quickly.

What News Sources Are In Your RSS Feed Reader?

September 4th, 2007

I have just added a feature, that the users of Notifir.com voted to have implemented first, that lists RSS feeds from news sources and lets you know whether each article was submitted to Digg.com. I just have three RSS sources right now for testing. I want to put together a must have list that loads up for default. So to frequent news submitters… what’s in your RSS reader?
